Hiya guys, The key fob I got with my car never worked, the buttons bleeped irregularly. I have just today fixed it (placed some foil on the buttons so now both buttons bleep when pressed. When I open the door with the key though, it unlocks all doors, so the central locking bit there isn't broken. I cannot program it to the car now, it just refuses to do it. I have tried the method of ignition on off 5 time (left on 5th time) and pressing the button, holding the button etc etc. I just get nothing, the little light on the left of the dash does not light up or flash. Is this something that the dealer has to do or could it be that either my fob is broken (even though it bleeps), or the central locking module thing inside the car is faulty? I might check the fuses, anyone know where the fusebox/fuseboxes are located? Thanks in advance chaps - any advice welcomed!!!
Hi, I believe RT's recommended solution was to dismantle the fob and give the inside and circuit board a good clean with circuit cleaner. I would thing that if both buttons are being pressed the alarm could be confused??!! One button is for "Panic" and the other lock and arm/unlock and disarm. You can pick these up on ebay or in breakers, but remember, these are also as old as yours and may suffer the same fate soon. There are also 2 types and if you have the wrong one, it will never work! I bit the bullet and bought 2 new ones for the V90: both failed within days of each other. 2 to open and clean up and test later! Des. . . ;)
Lol no I meant that each button bleeps if it is pressed, they don't both bleep at the same time. I don't think it needs cleaning inside as I wiped the board with isopropyl alcohol, and it bleeps anyway, might have to go to volvo :(

I was a little hasty :realmad: I changed parts around in a fob to get the best fob case and went out again to the car to reprogramme it and doing the ignition on off thing didn't make the light blink as usual, checked the fuse and it had blown again. I'm wondering when it happened, maybe when i was trying to get the alarm to activate maybe. The fuse is number 14 and is listed as Diagnostic and Alarm Horn. I'm clueless now, anyone have any ideas? Maybe a previous owner has been playing silly beggers with the alarm system. The remote locking and alarm has never worked since I have owned the car, so I have no idea what it could be. Any suggestions welcome
