V70 battery discharge when car unused

MessageAuthor

Posted with "General" prefix as there is no "V70 Electrics" option despite one existing for S60s. Having shortly driven it abroad from the UK, my 2003 V70 2.4T is going to stand unused for five weeks whilst I'm back in the UK. I will over inflate the tyres to help guard against flat spots, but do I need to take any precautions regarding the battery? The garage in which the car will sit has no electrical power and no means to run electrical power to it. Whilst I have not measured the current draw "at rest", the battery is apparently in fine health anyway, so choices as I see them are: 1) Don't worry 2) Remove battery and trickle charge it in the house (so no alarm active in the car) 3) Get father in law to periodically run the engine and thus advertise the car to all and sundry There is no option to get father in law to do option 2 just before my return, so my preference is of course item 1. Sensible?

i would leave it standing, i presume the ecu will just reset itself to factory settings and the radio will need the code entering if the battery does go flat, regards cavey

I would pick option 1. I have left my old 2001 V70 for 4 weeks while we were away with no problems. I just left the car locked up in the garage at home. 4 weeks later it started no bother with no issues. Best of luck

Thanks Guys. On the basis of our small poll, I'm glad my preference is a sensible preference. It's more the annoyance to family and neighbours abroad of a failing power supply triggering the alarm that I'm concerned about rather than low juice to start the engine but I'll now take the chance.
