one tethys?

MessageAuthor

hi I've had a slight 'trembling' on the steering for a while - had the wheel's laser alighened and tyres balances etc. But still there... local tyre shop has said I have one slightly buckled alloy wheel (17 Tethys, front passenger side) which could be the cause. Does anyone have similar experience? Also, do I need to replace all four alloys so they match or can I simply replace the defective one? thank you!

They should be able to tell you which wheel is out of balance that it needs replacing as it sould show up on the machine and require a lot of weights on the wheel if it is that bad! If the wheel is that and and needs replacing (and that is the actual cause) then you should only need to replace the defective one.

Yes, even a slightly buckled alloy will do this and it happens surprisingly easily

Just put the defective one on the back, you probably won't notice it then. Definately don't buy 4 new ones.

You'll probably find if you put the buckled wheel on the back, the vibration you were getting through the steering wheel you now feel through your hips. It's the same with badly balanced wheels, front wheels vibrate through the steering wheel, rear wheels through the seat.
